A Brief (Personal) BiographyClose to the end of my undergraduate career at the University of Michigan, two life changing events happened. First (and clearly most importantly), I met Jen. Not only did this relationship turn to marriage a number of years later, but since our academic schedules were a year off from one another, it has kept us both in Ann Arbor for more than ten years. Sometime after I met Jen, she let me on to one of the University's best kept secrets: the student wood shop. Located in the basement of the student activities building, I must have passed by the wood shop dozens of times without ever noticing its presence. However, once I began to appreciate the beauty of turning rough sawn lumber into fine furniture, I was hooked. I've pursued a number of interests in the last 10 years, but outside of my full-time professional arena, I have made few accomplishments that measure up to what I have learned about fine woodworking. One of my long term goals is to continue building furniture, both for myself and for others on a limited production basis. To see what I have been up to lately, take a look at some of my projects. In mid 2003, my schedule and Jen's finally re-aligned. With our studies completed we packed up our apartment and headed out on a trip to South East Asia and India. When we arrived back in the States, we decided it was time to try out life in another part of the country. Now, we've settled down again here in Portland. |
